Position Summary: 

Performs packaging and preservation functions in accordance with established methods and directs others assigned to assist in packaging.  Repsonsible for pulling, boxing and preparing stock shipments.  Manages the futures warehouse.


Responsibilities will include receiving parts into the futures warehouse and prepares parts for storage.  Places parts into inventory location and maintains accurate records of all inventory transactions.  Based on daily shipping requirements pulls stock from inventory and transfers parts to shipping.  Maintains accurate records of all shipments.  Produces daily shipping reports.  Prepares forecasts of future shipments.  Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.  The candidate may also be responsible for assisting the shipping department supervisor as requested in the preparation of shipping labels, forms and documents. 

Daily Tasks:

Under the general supervision of the Production Control Manager, the candidate will identify the packaging requirements for each part from the purchase order, applicable specification, printed instructions or verbal instruction from the Shipping Supervisor. Monitors the flow of work through the quality department in anticipation of packaging.  Coordinates with the shipping supervisor to insure that jobs are packed on a timely basis and in the pre-described sequence.  Arranges the work area incorporating in-bound and out-bound queues.  Maintains an appropriate inventory of shipping supplies within the department and replenishes the downstairs storage racks daily.

Assist the shipping department supervisor as requested in the preparation of shipping labels, forms and documents.

Packs all Government orders and coordinates the shipping of Government orders with the MSA Quality Engineer, Shipping Supervisor and the Department of Defense WWAF.  Instructs other packaging employees in the proper method of DoD packing.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:  

High School Graduate or equivalent with experience in a shipping or packaging department with strong communication skills.  Experience in use of ERP software is a plus.  The ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure and to meet rigid deadlines.  Basic English reading and math skills.

Experience working in a multilingual workforce in a fast paced packaging or shipping department.  Strong organizational skills, good memory and attention to detail.  Good computer skills and the ability to learn Visual Manufacturing software.  Ability to read and understand detailed purchase order, specifications and printed instructions. 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Production Control Manager.

Working Conditions: 

Shipping department, ship floor and upstairs warehouse areas.  Bending and lifting up to 25 lbs and moving 40 lbs pans with dollies.
